Japan {Kyoto}.

 And we are off!
Today we are all going down to Kyoto for a few days.
We left straight from Nate and Lauren's with luggage in tow and headed straight for the subway and then train station.
This was the first time we rode the subway during morning rush hour.  It was crowded ... but still totally silent.
I took this little video while we were riding so I could remember how quiet it was.
We took this bullet train to Kyoto.

It was about a three hour train ride.
This was my view out the window of the city.
This was the first time I actually saw houses in Japan.
Pete liked the ride.
The snow caped mountain on the left side of the picture {its really hard to see} is Mt. Fuji - it wasn't a clear day and we were traveling very fast so it was hard to get a clear picture.
 My super cute traveling companions!
From the train station we took a cab to our hotel to check in and freshen up.  The cab service in Japan is like no other I have ever seen before.  The drivers all wear white shirts and ties with gloves, they really pride themselves in their service.  Impeccable! And you don't have to worry about getting scammed.
They even have these nice seat covers!
Flowers in the lobby!
This is the view of Kyoto from were we are staying.  Its different then Tokyo - Kyoto used to be the capital of Japan.
