Book Club.

Tonight we had book club at Bonnie's adorable house in the avenues.  We read My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok.  It is about a young Jewish boy who loves art and becomes an artist.  His art causes conflict in his family because he is inspired to draw the crucifix.  His dad works for the rabbi and disapproves of what his son does.  The story is about the conflict between Asher and his father and mother and Ashers desires to be an artist.  The discussion of the book was very fascinating thanks to Bonnie's preparations and great questions.  We discussed the book over an amazing multi-course Jewish meal.  Chilled carrot and orange soup, bacon wrapped matzo balls, watermelon and feta salad, clove game hen with roasted spring vegetables, orange sorbet, chocolate fig pistachio balls and salted dulce de leche chocolate matzo.  Amazing!
This is not the type of book I would typicality pick up and read, but after discussing it I like it better {that happens often}.  Still only two and half stars out of five.
Over the top amazing dinner and discussion Bonnie. Thank you!
{below is my place setting - so fitting}

The poor soul who has to follow in Bonnie's footsteps ... that's me!
I chose "The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" by Ree Drummond.
{Its a cute, quick, summer read - pick it up and start reading by the pool}

run.

McKay helped out with the Park City 5K Memorial Day run to raise money for his upcoming trip to Peru.  The boys and I ran in the race.  We weren't planning on it so we showed up a little late to the race and then had to turn around and back-track to the start line to get our number which we had forgotten.

We ran to catch up with "the racers" and police escort who had left us in the dust.  Truman and Bodie where entertained by all the people and dogs.  Half way up one of the hills Truman said "mom, you need to run we are going to slow"  Thanks Truman.

Memorial Day Weekend - Idaho.

 My parents have been out of town for the last week, so you know the routine I was left to "babysit" McKay.  We jumped in the car Friday afternoon {with Bodie in the back seat} and headed to Idaho to visit with family.  I must say, going to Idaho is like going home.  I was born there but we moved to Park City when I was two - so it really isn't home, but a lot of my family is there so I have fond memories of visiting there often as a child.
 Bodie discovered Grandpa Arave's pretzel stash in the office
{He was crawling on his forearms because he had pretzels in his hands}.
I found Bodie washing grandma's toilet with my toothbrush, awesome!
A visit with Grandpa Quinn {Bodie's Great Grandpa Quinn}
Grandpa showing Bodie his latest toy.
Look how happy he looks!
I think every baby loves grandpa Quinn.  When I picked up Bodie to leave he started to bawl and reach for my grandpa again.  I told my grandpa I would gladly let him take Bodie to High Priest group on Sunday!!

 April and Mackenzie.
One of the main reasons for our road trip was to meet this guy, and to see his mom!
{a sneeze}
 This was so cute - Sawyer is four months old and rolling over.  Bodie laid down on the floor and mimicked him.  It made me feel like Bodie was so old.

 Sunday we celebrated my aunt Ilene's birthday.
 Crew was helping his grandma blow out her candles and Dallin wanted in on the action!
 After church I asked Dallin what 'reverent' looks like and this is what I got.
Adorable.
The sun finally came out on our drive home.

Thanks everyone in Idaho for the fun time!

facetime.

Grandpa and Grandma Quinn are in Connecticut this week meeting the newest member of our family, Anthony and Sharon's new baby boy Eliot.  My boys were so excited to facetime with grandpa and grandma tonight, even though it has only been a few days since they last saw them.
 Grandpa had them singing songs with actions included.
I love modern technology!

pool time.

I think we will be spending alot of time at the pool this summer.
We especially love it when uncle McKay meets us there.  The other day he surprised us when he rode up on his bike - all the way from Park City.  Way to go McKay.

Jet-pack.

We made a last minute unplanned trip to Hopkinsons today with Grandma Quinn.   Enoch had made this amazing jet-pack after looking at pictures in National Geographic about people flying.  He drew a detailed picture of how he was going to make his jet-pack.  After a quick trip to the store for some strawberries to make strawberry jam {the containers were perfect for jet-packs} and some camo-duck tape he proceeded to make his amazing pack.  Truman showed up and was total amazed.  The two of them guzzled some soda so they could use the cans as rocket boosters on Truman jet-pack.  They ran around the house and the yard jumping off anything they could for hours!  It was adorable.
