DUEL IMMERSION.

We got the L.O.N.G. awaited {well over a year} phone call on Monday night from the principle of our Elementary school letting us know that there was a space in the duel immersion Spanish program for Truman.
FINALLY!
The duel immersion process is a lottery although you still have to fill out an application and have it reviewed {I am still not totally sure I trust that that is what they really do...}.  Last spring we found out Truman didn't make it into duel immersion and we were so disappointed {especially after finding out most of his friends DID make it in}.

We also applied to the Soldier Hollow Charter school which he got into.  All last summer we debated what to do.  Finally, a few nights before school started when we were at back to school night for the Elementary school we got our answer.  Our conclusions was this, going to school is SO MUCH MORE than academics and academically we were not really worried about Truman at all.  At back to school night it just 'felt right' to be at the school where all the other kids from our neighborhood and ward would be, it felt like a sense of community.

We knew we were at the top of the "boy caucasian" list to get into duel immersion once there was an opening so all school year we have been waiting for the good news.
The principle suggested that we start right away so Truman went to school yesterday and said goodbye to Mrs. Huntington and all his friend from her class and today he is headed to Mrs. Henry's class for half the day in English and Maestra Ibarra's class for half the day in Spanish.
I asked him how he felt about being in duel immersion and this was his reaction!

When he jumped off the kindergarten bus at noon today he said,
"Now that was not normal"

Dads and Donuts.

This morning I got this picture text from Gregg at school with Truman.
It was "Dad's and Donuts" morning at the elementary school.

Pete's first tooth.

He is finally getting his first tooth just a couple of weeks shy of one year's old.
And he loves this little green lizard as a teething toy.
It was not easy getting a picture of that tooth.
The pictures are all so cute ... overload.
There it is ... the first tooth coming through.
He seems to be handling it fine.

Pete is crawling.

Pete is finally crawling just shy of one-years old.
Sometimes the hardest part is getting that little bum off the ground into a forward motion.
Pete's left arm {elbow} is a little funky... you can see it in this picture.  We think he is double jointed in that arm.
With the help of his big brothers Pete really mastered the art of crawling today.
It was petty cute to watch the other boys crawling around the house trying to help/show Pete what to do.
Spiderman made an appearance to help out.
We are also experiencing some teething at the same time so this plastic green lizard is a favorite chew toy.
There is the funky arm again.
 We love you little Pete.
And we are happy you have finally learned how to crawl.

Birthday and Baptism.

Today was Gregg's birthday, and our nephew Enoch's baptism.
Enoch is an exact replica of his dad!
Our boys are obsessed with Enoch.  We are thankful for his great friendship and example to our boys.  He is so kind and patient to Truman and Bodie and such a peace maker.
Enoch will make a great father and husband some day...he is growing up with all these sister surrounding him AND the best news of all ... this amazing family is getting ANOTHER baby sister in August!

{Quinn, Nelson, Tiffany, Aaron, Addie, Anna, Enoch, Jean}
 The Hopkinson's and Lovell's
 Cute Anna and Jean.
Hopkinson's with their Nana and Papa Hopkinson
 Nana and Papa.
 Tiff, Enoch and Aaron.
 Grandma and Grandpa Quinn.
 Everyone loves this kid!
It was a special day.
After the baptism we had a brunch at Hopkinson's.  Enoch's one request was for my homemade cinnamon rolls :) I was so flattered, and happy to make them (they turned out amazing).  Phew!
I also made cupcakes and we celebrated Gregg's birthday when we were together as a family.
I didn't take a single picture :(
Tonight I snapped this awful picture on my iphone of the boys having cupcakes before bed.
I feel so bad we didn't get pictures of Gregg's special day.
Happy Birthday Gregg, we still love you and hope you still love us.

Ruth's Chris.

We went to Ruth's Chris Steak House to celebrate my mother-in-law and Gregg's birthdays this week.  It has got to be one of our all time favorite places to eat.
I got this amazing chop salad.
We got a babysitter for the boys but this little guy came with us.  He has expensive taste.
We all shared a string fries order.
Happy Birthday Gregg.
You can't see in this picture but he spilled water all down his front right before we left so he was walking out with these bags covering the "pee" accident.

Mom's and Muffins.

This morning was 'Mom's and Muffin's' at the elementary school to.
I got to take Truman to school and have breakfast with him and read books.  All month long the school is sponsoring little activities to promote literacy.
 Truman and Jake.
Of course we had to sit with our friends the Woolstenhulme's and read with them.
{Jake, Luke, Ty, Donna and Cade}

After the elementary school I rushed home to get Bodie ready for pre-school.  He had to dress like a nursery rhyme today.
Bodie LOVES to wear his PJ's so we came up with 'rock-a-bye-baby' so he could wear his comfy PJ's to school and take his beloved 'blanky' with him.
