Basketball Date Night.

Tonight we went on a no-kids-date-night to the BYU vs. Gonzaga Basketball game.
Tip off was not until 9 PM due to ESPN broadcasting the game - I don't think the game ended until after midnight!  We are not young enough to stay out that late anymore.

Potty Time.

I started potty training Bodie about a week and a half ago.  And in true Camille potty-training-fashion I was not planning on it or prepared, it just kind of happened.  My philosophy {so far} has been if they understand and can demonstrate how to start and stop it on their own, then we go for it.  So we did.
Doesn't that face just scream, "I'm a big kid now!"
Unfortunately for Bodie I didn't just cancel everything on the schedule and 'camp out' in the bathroom for a few days - he has had to learn as we continued on with life over the past week and he has done amazing!
His potty treat of choice has been mini tootsie pop suckers and balloons.
23 months and potty trained; I am one happy mama!

Book Cub.

Today Tami hosted book club at her house.  We ready "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot.  The book is about how we got the HeLa cells that are used in medical research today - they launched a medical revolution but where taken without permission {not to mention the $$$ made by everyone but the family}.   We discussed if it was right or wrong to take the cells without asking Henrietta or her family;  I don't think it was wrong that Johns Hopkins hospital kept her cells for research - and certainly don't think it was a racial thing either.  We did discuss at length how a lot of what happened was because of a lack of education which is still persistent in the family today - and how that cycle is hard to break {supposedly some of the money from the sales of this book are going to an education grant for the family}.  I do want to add that I did not like how the author put herself in the book - personal opinion!
Thanks Tami for a great discussion and yummy breakfast.
I will give the book three stars out of five - interesting.

Next we are reading "The Uncommon Reader" by Alan Bennett.

Mexico City South Mission.

The call.
It came on Wednesday but McKay and my parents were out of town.
Tonight I picked them all up from the airport and we partied at my house.
It just so happened that Nate was also flying in to SLC tonight.
Here is a video of our family guesses.
Check out Nates response!
The call.
We are all freaking out after he reads his MTC date because it is 5 days after he graduates from High School!  Wow, crazy.
We did a Google+ chat with {left to right} Anthony and Sharon in Michigan, Ben Sumsion {friend in Park City}, more friends in Park City, Jake and Sarah Quinn in Chicago, Carmen Timmins {SLC}, and Lauren Quinn {in San Francisco}.
We also had two or three iPhones with a conference call going on.  I am not sure who all was on the phone.
The gang at the house; Gregg {his knee is pictured far left}, McKay, Jason {friend from PC}, Dallin, Addie, Enoch, Truman, Tiffany, Bodie, Quinn, Anna, Jean, Valine, Nate, Paul and me!
It really is the prophets signature in ink!
McKays really good friend who has been investigating the church for a few years came to see him open his call.  He was so impressed that it was really the prophets signature.
We had brownies and ice cream after at McKay request.
His nieces and nephews are going to miss him so much.
Truman was quick to lend Mckay his spanish word book!
Dallin immediately started to quiz McKay on his spanish.
Studying up on Mexico City.
We had lots of guesses via Facebook, email and instagram.
The winners are, three year old little niece Jean Hopkinson, Jake Quinn and Tami Fife.
Your care packages are in the mail!

Called to Serve...

My kids adore their uncle McKay {know as K-K}
Last week we got to have him at our house for a few days while my parents were out of town.
Truman insisted on doing "homework" with McKay.

The next morning McKay and Bodie were all snuggles.  My kids are going to miss McKay ... because ... he is going on a mission!  Now that men {more like little boys} can serve a mission at age 18, McKay can leave as soon as he graduates High School {in June}.

I got a text message from McKay today saying that his mission call is in the mail waiting for him ... he is in Michigan right now so he can't open it!  So ... the boys and I are headed to my parents condo to pick it up ... and ... I promised not to open it.  I waited four days to open my own mission call so I can be fully trusted with McKays call!

It is time to cast your guesses.
Where in the world will Elder Quinn {#4} serve?

I am picking him up for the airport Friday night {along with the rest of the family} and then we are having a family get together at my house so he can open it.

Vote now and the person who guesses correctly will get a homemade care package from me!

Good Luck!

BYU Basketball.

For Gregg's birthday Truman gave him tickets to the BYU vs. Utah State basketball game.
We left Bodie home with grandpa and grandma Simons.
I smuggled his Valentine's candy in for an entertaining treat.
Thank you Truman for cooperating for a family shot.
This is what I found when we stopped to pick Bodie up and grandpa and grandmas.
Who whore who out?!
