Grandma Vera's Beans.

Grandma Vera's Baked Beans

2 pounds lean ground beef
1 pound diced bacon
2 large onions, diced
2 green peppers, diced
1 pound pre-cooked ham, cubed (I like the ham steak from Costco)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups ketchup
3/4 cup Dijon mustard
5 31 ounce cans Pork and Beans (VanCamp's)
3 12 ounce jars Homemade chili sauce

Brown the beef and bacon in hot 14" dutch oven.  Add onions and peppers and saute.  Stir in the rest of the ingredients and allow to simmer for at least one hour.

To add flavor start this recipe a day or so in advance.  Prepare main mixture, omitting the beans until you are ready to cook and serve.  Refrigerate overnight.  Blended flavors make this a great second-day dish.
