double time.

It's time to invest in a double stroller.  I have been doing some research for a couple of months.  Here are the strollers I am considering - I wanted to get some opinions before I make a final purchase (if you have one of these strollers and have any pros or cons you want to share that would be great).

I don't really run with my stroller.  If I want to go on a serious run I will go without kids.  I do walk alot with Turman in my jogger stroller now so I do want my new double to be light weight and easy to push.  And, it needs to fold easily and fit into the back of my car.

Baby Jogger: Performance

Baby Trend: Expedition
I am not sure I would like the swivel front wheel...
Bob: Ironman
 Bumble Ride: Indie Twin
(I don't know how I feel about the double front wheel)

InStep: Run Around LTD

Schwinn: Free Runner 2
I have a Schwinn Single Jogger now and I LOVE it...so I am tempted to go with Schwinn again.

  1. I say go with either the Schwinn or the Bumble Ride because they have front swivel wheels which I think is a HUGE deal. I bought a double stroller with one of those big front wheels and it was impossible to maneuver in smaller spaces.

  2. To stear a fixed front wheel you have to lift it off the ground. To stear a swivel wheel you just push (like a regular stroller). The best options are the locking front wheel where it swivels, but if you are going off road you can lock it into place.
The best feature of my double jogger that I pulled out of the trash on someone's curb....is that I can plop a 12" bike with training wheels on top of the shade canopy when some over-ambitious 3 year old burns out half a mile from home. It also holds a folding camp chair nicely for those walks over to the park; sometimes It has even held both at the same time with a kid in each seat and one propped on the wheel guard in front.
So take a good look at the design...if you can picture loading it like a circus car...it's a sure winner.

  3. We have a Bob Revolution with the optional swivel front wheel and it's like the SUV of strollers. A bit big, but SO easy to handle outdoors and we've even pushed it across a beach. The suspension is great and you can turn it with one hand. But if you already love the Schwinn, I'd stick with what you like. :)

  4. if you don't plan on jogging, don't get one with that big bicycle front wheel!! they are made for going straight, they don't turn well at all! i did tons of research when i bought my baby jogger city mini double. it was best for me because of price, size, ease of folding and maneuvering. mine is great for brisk walking around the neighborhood. i don't run... i love my stroller, i wished you could have checked it out a bit more... there are great stroller reviews on www.babygizmo.com!! check them out! the other one i was torn between was the bumbleride. i didn't get it because it cost a lot more, was more difficult to fold and a lot bigger when folded (takes up too much room in the car or when storing. good luck!!

  5. I have the Baby Trend double and I have loved the swivel/lock front wheel. I haven't had any problems with it and we bought it used.
On a side note with this, I purchased an iHome speaker set, for my iPod, that is really great when I run. I like that I don't have to have earphones in and that Abi can also listen to some of her music to keep her entertained too. We will even take it with us to the pool during the summer. The little remote that comes with it is nice next to my hands while I run.

  6. I love mine, but it is none of your choices, maclaren techno twin, folds up nice and only weighs about 9 lbs.

  7. They all look fun! When you are done with the single I have a friend who I told she could borrow it too . . . Glad you loved it so much!

  8. I love my Bumbleride and you are welcome to come and test it out. Babinski's has the City Mini, Bob, and Bumbleride in stock on the floor so you can really make a good choice side by side. If I didn't get such a great deal on the bumbleride I would have done the City Mini that Krista has. The Bob is well liked but I heard from a woman that her child didn't like it because the seats are soft and don't offer any support. Good luck and I hope you get the best stroller for you.

  9. The BabyTrend wheel can lock OR swivel... I love mine... the wheel can go either way.

  10. Camille, Tell me what you end up going with. I'm going to be doing the same thing here soon. Any of these have attachments to hold a car seat for the infant?

  11. We had a single Baby Trend Jogger Expedition and it was great for a bit, but eventually fell apart by the time I had Kennedi. We bought when Libby was born. I'm still looking for a double and don't plan on getting a Baby trend again, I just don't think it will last like I want it too. I've looked into the Schwinn and InStep as well and they each seem pretty good. Just not sure how small they fold. Good luck. Let me know what you decide.
