I read the baby whisperer and it was a good resource. I also have been recommended and used parts of the No cry sleep solutions. The No cry sleep solutions has been good as Kaden has gotten into the toddler stage and sleeping has changed!
I don't have "your babies first year", but have really loved the others, especially baby wise. I do so much better with a schedule and I think the babies do as well. Good luck and we can't wait to see this little guy.
Thanks Camille for my birthday card!!! You blow me away! Honestly I truly admire your thoughtfulness and example of friendship. I also loved the "create" movie...much needed. love ya kelli
I really like babywise...I read it all of the time!! I also really like happiest baby on the block...the dvd of that is even better! We watched in one of our classes!!
I also like babywise, but don't totally follow everything it says. I think the cycles are good, but I don't think letting a newborn cry itself to sleep is necessary. But that's just my opinion.
Camille-I just found your blog from your comment on Jamie's...and thought I'd give you my two cents. I think "Healthy Habits" is a great book. The writing is not great, but the concepts are. I am NOT a fan of Babywise. The American Academy of Pediatrics actually came out and said that they do not approve of this book because after it came out parents were following it strictly and their children were ending up dehydrated and malnourished! If you do follow it, just be sure to follow your babies cues. The book I recommend to all of my patients is "Baby 411." It is really helpful, especially for first time moms. And it summarizes all of the sleep books and theories too!

ReplyDeleteHealthy sleep habbits has some good tips on what to do with a fussing baby--the 5 S's, if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for the "proper" order and reasoning behind "Eat, Awake, then Sleep" Babywise has good points. I read this often.
Again, good luck--every baby and every parent is different.

Not a fan of babywise. But it's good to understand the spectrum. I think it is more work than just going with the flow.
