homework.

I am taking a photography class this week with some friends.
One of our assignments was to take a photo of our kids outside.

1) with their back to the sun {pictured above}
2) with them looking at the sun {pictured below}

I learned some really great new things...now I just need to master them!
Practice, practice, practice.

18 days.

Bodie and I had doctors appointments today.
7 pounds 6 ounces
20 inches
{I don't think he grew 2 inches in 2 weeks...I think his birth height of 18 inches was wrong}

As for me...well, I don't think you really care how much I weigh, what my blood count is or my blood pressure :)

My super talented sister-in-law is in town from North Carolina and took these great shots of Bodie...there are more cute ones to come {of the entire family}.

bed time.

Well - we did it - we made the move to the big bed.  To be totally honest I did not feel ready.

A few days ago Truman front flipped out of his crib at nap time {see this post}.  The next night when I went to check on him he had flipped out of his crib {without us hearing} and crawled into the big bed and was fast asleep.  Too cute!  He had even taken off the decorative pillows and put his own pillow in the bed.

My mom took Truman for a few hours for me so I could clean out, vacuum and set up his 'new' room with his 'new bed' {we have had two twin beds bunked in his room the entire time he has been in there.  I un-bunked them, put away the crib and rearranged the room}.  Now I am just waiting for the night when he moves from bed to bed {the other bed is on the other side of the book shelf set up the same way...it will be Bodies bed some day}!

Truman's addition to the room - a basketball hoop hanging next to his bed - I don't think so...he would never fall asleep!!!  The basketball / football / baseball / soccer sheets are distracting enough at night!

mutual.

My super cute Mia Maids came to see me and the baby tonight for their activity.  They brought a basket full of gifts, some homemade cookies and the cute poster seen below!
Love them.  Thanks girls.

Nap Time.

I know we should not encourage this - but we had to get a video of it {we put the pad down to brace his fall - he will do it without it but we kind of felt bad for him falling onto the floor}.

Now what do I do?
I have enough going on trying to adjust to a one week old baby.

{note: he is saying "I come" "coming" as in "I am coming...here I come" - yes Truman, we see you coming...falling that is}

Bodie enjoying some vitamin D from the sun today.
He was sound asleep so I decided to take some photos of him in the sun.
We think he's pretty cute!

On Wednesday, March 2nd I went in for my weekly check up with my doctor.  I was dilated to a 3 and 75% effaced.  I was pleased to hear that I had started to progress.  Thursday I had very mild contraction about every hour to hour and a half.  I had been at my parents house working on projects all day.  That night I took a bath and tried to relax {after making banana bread, doing the laundry, getting out baby clothes, packing a hospital bag and vacuuming the house just in case I went into labor}.

At about midnight on Thursday night/ Friday morning I woke up to some painful contractions.  I timed them for about two hours before waking up Gregg.  My contractions were every 8-10 minutes.  I had Gregg go sleep in the guest bedroom so he could actually get some sleep.  At about 3 AM I called my sister {I know, I did the same thing last time...but...she always makes me promise to call and I didn't feel that bad because she has a 2 week old baby so I figured she might be nursing, which she was}.  I was seriously contemplating going to the hospital to be checked but Tiff talked me into waiting until morning.  I decided to get up and do some things around the house {I was curious to see if contractions would stop if I got up and moved around - but they didn't}.

I managed to dose off between 4-6 and get a little bit of sleep.  When Gregg got up I told him I had been having contractions 8-10 minutes apart all night and that I wanted to go get checked as soon as I my doctor got in.  At about 9 we dropped Truman off at Gregg's sisters' house and headed to the doctors.  Gregg later told me that he thought I was crazy for wanting to go in and get checked - he figured we would be sent home and I would be so disappointed {my due date was still 2 weeks away}.

When my doctor checked me in his office at about 10 AM I was dilated to a 5 and 100% effaced.  He stripped my membranes and wheeled me over to the hospital to have a baby.  I think Gregg and I were both in shock {I really was mentally prepared for him to check me, say I had progressed a little and then send me home}.

By 11 AM I was checked into the hospital, hooked up, had an epidural in and was managing the pain just fine.  The pain was seriously never as bad as with Truman {I am guessing because Truman was posterior}.  The only really bad part about this labor and deliver {as well as with Truman's} was that I threw up the entire time.  My mom had come to Midway to pick up Truman and take him to her house so she stopped by the hospital to check on us.  I sent her to the store to pick up some prescriptions for me and, by the time she got back I had had the baby.  I never believed anyone who said they didn't have to push their baby out, especially considering the hours of pushing I did to get Truman here.  I have to admit - it happened with Bodie.  I sat up to push and here he came pretty much all on his own.

So far everything is great.  We came from the hospital a little less then 24 hours after having him.  My recovery so far has felt much better then with Truman.  He is a great nurser and sleeper {so far}!  Truman doesn't really have any interest in Bodie at all.  He is only concerned when Bodie's hat falls off.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and support!  I am sure there are many, many more Bodie and Truman pictures to come!

Utah Jazz.

Last Monday night our friends invited us to a Jazz game.  I didn't have time to post about it before having Bodie - but I still wanted to so I could remember the great time we had.

Tami and Brandon.
I think we all had more fun talking and being together with out the kids then watching the game.  Non of us are huge Jazz fans so it didn't really matter that they lost :)

I guess this ended up being our last date night before having a new baby, who would have thought?!
Thanks Fifes.

ebay.

I discovered eBay.  I know what you are saying...its about time {Gregg said I was 15 years too late}.  I know about eBay but the whole 'bidding' thing drives me crazy so I never buy anything from there.

Here is the story.  About 5 years ago our neighbor in Park City was dying.  My mom inherited his stamp collection.  It has been sitting in her basement ever since.  She said who ever sold it could have the money - so around Christmas time something possessed me to get the collection from her and see what I could do with it.  I didn't have any luck finding stamp appraisers in the greater Salt Lake area.  I posed it on ksl.com to see what kind of reaction I would get.  I came in contact with a guy who is a stamp enthusiast who agreed to meet with me and Gregg and look at the collection.

He recommend that we would get the most money by organizing the collection and selling it on eBay in smaller parts.  So I spent most of February {yes, it took an entire month} organizing and photographing the collection and posting it.

{I had a few people from ksl.com offer me $250 for the collection & I was temped to just take the money and be done with it}.

Pictured above: the boxes and boxes of stamps.
Pictured below: The most expensive stamps in the collection! (who would have known)

It turned into my February project to get the stamp collection sold and out of my house.  It was almost like a full time job.  I would work on the organization, pictures and listings in the afternoon when Truman was down for a nap.

When all was said and done I had 72 listings of stamps on eBay and I made $1,050  - it defiantly felt worth my time!
It was a fun winter-time project and I learned how to sell on eBay {still don't like buying on eBay}!
