Sunday: family history.

Today I walked into my dad's office and found Truman and Bodie on his lap looking at pictures and hearing stories about their great grandpa Quinn.  My dad told them about his dad's time in Korea and how he met Harold B. Lee there.  The boys also though it was pretty cool that the men wore their army uniforms to church.
Other happenings at my parents tonight ... cute Pete chilling with Dallin.
Pete loves Dallin.

First week of school.

We all survived the first week of first grade: time to celebrate at the pool.
When Truman got off the bus I had his swim gear and all the other kids ready to go straight to the pool.
Gregg was a good sport about having all the neighborhood kids pulling on him.
One of our little nursery kids pushing him in.

First Day of First Grade: Truman

Today was the first day of first grade for Truman.
Truman was SO excited.
Our bus stop is the largest in the school and we love it that way.
And he is off.
I was SO worried about sending him all day.  When I did the math last night I realized he is with his teachers for more hours in a day then he is with me - I have to make every minute with me count!
Poor Bodie wishes it was him getting on that bus.
He was a supportive younger brother and rode his bike down to the bus to say good-bye to Truman.  Bodie will start school in two {LONG} weeks.
Bodie and I made after school cookies during the day.
Tradition.
I was so happy to see him when he got off the bus.
That is a long day.
I am very thankful he has such great friends, they ride the bus together, they are in class together and some of them see each other at church too.
Tired?!
I felt SO bad {mommy guilt} when I saw his lunch.  His new lunch box didn't come in the mail in time for the first day so I had to send his lunch in a paper sack.  Apparently the strawberries leaked out the bottom and he never opened the top.  I felt so bad he had gone all day without eating anything :(

Last day of the Summer.

Today is our last official day of summer before the Elementary school starts.
Natural we went to the pool!
Pete LOVES the water.
Truman.
Bodie.
My little water dog.
We will miss our lazy days at the pool {eating good snacks}!

Bodie's first talk in Primary.

Bodie gave his first talk in Primary today.  I snapped this picture of him working on his pictures this week.
His topic was,
"Miracles come to those who have faith"
I asked him what miracle from the scriptures he wanted to share and he told me, "when Jesus walked on water."  We talked about miracles in our own life and Bodie decided he wanted to share the miracle of Pete, when he was sick as a baby with RSV and Rhinos.
I know I am his mom and I am totally partial but when he got up there as a Sunbeam in front of all those primary kids and told his stories and then told the story of praying as a family for Pete, the spirit was so strong in the room.  There were several teary eyes.
Jesus on the far left walking on water {with some fish}.
He showed this picture of Pete in the hospital.
And this one of him and Pete.
And finally this one of Pete healthy.
I was really proud of him for standing up there all by himself and telling his stories and testimony without any help.

Summer Movie Night.

Twice a year our neighborhood sponsors a movie under the stars at the club house.
Tonight was our summer-ending movie night.
Truman and Bodie watching Despicable Me.
Gregg and Pete.
We ordered Baskin Robbin's 6 most popular flavors of ice-cream and had a gourmet ice-cream bar.
We had a great summer and tonight was a fun night with some really great friends.

Rockport Campout.

All summer we have been trying to plan a campout with our friends before school started and last night it finally happened.
We reserved the big group site at Rockport State park and invited some of our friends and neighbors.
Dinner over the fire!
Corn on the fire and a can of chili warming up {genius}
After dinner the dads took the kids down to the reservoir to play ... they came back looking like this :)
Even the dads came back a mess!
At least they had fun.
Before bed we set out the best looking dessert table I have ever seen on a campout.  One friend had purchased four pies from the local and infamous "June Pies" and they did not disappoint!
Amazing.
Pie and ice cream around the camp fire.
Pictured above is the s'mores pie.
How appropriate!
I must say we have the most generous friends.  Someone else brought glow-in-the-dark frisbee's for all the kids.
Beautiful morning.
Pete caged in.
Breakfast over the fire.  I was in charge of the pancakes.
There is something so magical about fire and smoke!
This is one of our little nursery girls, Harper.
A morning playing in the fire in PJ's
Pete and I hanging out.
Unfortunately I didn't get a group shot :(
I think a new tradition was born so I will get a group shot next year.
