Today my brother McKay baptized his best friend from high school, Jason.
McKay befriended Jason throughout high school and was continually inviting him to Young Men's, Youth Conference and other church activities. Jason decided to be baptized a few months ago and wanted to wait until McKay got home from his mission to baptize him. It was a really special day for our entire family.
Jason grew up in a Jewish home, he is now the only member in his family.
This is his cute girlfriend Amy.
Becca and Dallin.
Dallin needed a head shot for work!
Truman with 100 {almost 101} year old Mabel.
A picture of McKay with one of his friends still on the mission, this picture was sent to him.
My parents hosted an open house for Jason and McKay later this evening.
It was fun for both of them to have all their Park City friends there.
Aaron napping.
Aaron still napping several hours later.
My grandpa and I out on a walk.
Grandma Arave showing Quinn pictures of the doll dresses she has been making.
Pete is not sure about the swing at grandmas.
100 year-old Mable is a dear family friend of our from Park City. She has loved Dallin and McKay like they were her own grandsons. She would not miss the festivities for anything.
And it wouldn't be a Quinn party without dozens of eclairs!
Some of the ladies in the neighborhood and I planned a movie night to kick of summer. We rented a huge screen to project the movie onto. We set up a table with all sorts of candies and huge bags of popcorn. Families snuggled under blankets as we all watched "Wreck it Ralph"
The mom's met the kids at the bus stop today with this sign, some balloons and pizza to have a little party.
All the photographers and proud mama's.
The balloons were a little late getting there so we had to pose the picture again!
We went across the street from the bus stop to a friends back yard and had a little party.
One of the neighbor girls had the cutest braid in her hair so I asked her if I could snap a picture of it. What a cutie!
Some of our friends gave all the kids these darling packages with sidewalk chalk as a gift.
We have the cutest friends!
The kids each got a balloon to play with.
I love where we live.
I love these ladies and their friendship and I especially love all the kids and good influence. Truman had 12 little boys in kindergarten that rode the bus with him everyday. It was so fun to see what kind of adventures those boys would come up with.
I love this kid.
He is such a good kid and an easy first child. He loved the first half of kindergarten and his small class with Mrs. Huntington. He was also SUPER excited to be moved into duel immersion and to have two new teachers. He didn't skip a beat switching from one class (and entire program) to another. I am excited for summer and to not have a schedule!
Here is the rest of Utah waiting for their missionaries too.
His first sighting of us as he came off the escalators.
My mom made sure everyone knew that SHE got the first hug.
Huges for dad.
McKay's best friend from high school, Jason was there. He has decided to be baptized and has been waiting for a few months for McKay to get home so he can baptize him.
Hugs for me and Pete.
Meeting Pete, it was a little overwhelming.
There was no hiding the ugly cry for me!
The kids all waited patiently for their turn to huge their uncle McKay.
Gregg put our kids to bed at home so I could stay at my parents for a while and hear about McKay's mission. Dallin, McKay and I stayed up WAY to late.
So happy he is home safe!
My parents new great room decor.
Missionary shoes after two years of walking around Mexico City.
This is his 'airport' tie.
McKay spent the entire first year of his mission in the office as a financial secretary and pretty much a personal assistant to the Mission President. Because so he took ALOT of trips to the airport so every time he did he wore this tie and made tally marks. It only seemed appropriate that he wear the tie to the airport today on his way home!
He didn't write.
A personal note from some dear friends in Mexico.
He pulled out this picture of my boys that he carried in his scriptures his entire mission, it melted me!
The simple pleasures you miss like a nice cold glass of milk from the fridge.
The broken arm and wrist.
There is a story but it is to delicate and fragile of a story to be told yet.
About two months ago we {our entire family} got an email from my dad with McKay's new phone number. He was slightly excited for McKay to come home and tonight gave him his new iphone 6.
The unpacking aftermath!
We told McKay not to bring any clothes home, and he didn't. He literally had the shirt {and underwear} off his back and that was it! Pictured below he had to borrow a jump-suit from my dad for bed ... we were dying of laughter.
My mom would not let him out of her sight.
She literally tucked him in bed before going to bed herself!
Once my mom went to bed McKay, Dallin and I stayed up WAY to late (to the tune of 2 AM) talking. It is so good to have him back!!
