friday flashbacks.

My mom was cleaning out last weekend and found this picture I had drew when I was little - she said she could not throw it away because it was so funny... if you look closely you can see that I drew myself thinking about a baby!

Dallin and McKay are not in the picture so I must have been somewhere between 5 and 7 years old.

And yes, we did have a black cat named Midnight.

We received our first major snow storm of the year last weekend.

My boys were elated.

"Savior"

 Tonight my mom took me and Dallin {and our dates} to dinner and the production of "Savior of the World" at Temple Square for an early birthday gift.  McKay has been in the production for a couple of years; this year he has the part of one of the disciples.   

 If you have never seen the production it is a must!  It get's you in the Christmas spirit!

Trains.

 

 Bodie loves to drive trucks and other cars around the house - he especially loves this train that Grandpa and Grandma Simons gave him for Christmas last year.  When Truman is at school Bodie usually plays upstairs, loading this train full of his current favorite treasures and driving it around in circles.  I remember my brothers doing the same thing - is it just a boy thing?

McDonalds, ice cream and brain freezes.

Truman had 'parent-teacher-conferences' at school today which I thought was a little bit ridiculous at age 3 ... but we went anyway.  After we took Truman out for a little lunch dad for a mine cone at McDonalds.

That is where the brain freeze happened.

Once the brain freeze was gone everything was back to normal!

Tonight Truman asked me how to spell his name.

I yelled out the letters from the other room and this is what he brought to me when he was done.

So cute!

"Truman Paul Simons"

The 'Paul' across the middle is the hardest to make out.  The 'Truman' is really good except he is missing the "R" and I love the "S" at the beginning and end of Simons.

I wasn't sure if he would be able to write each of the letters or even write in the correct order or direction.

Vote.

The kids had been in the car a ton one day while I ran around Park City, Heber and Midway working so in the afternoon we spend 2+ hours and two different parks playing and enjoying the last good weather.

It's my brother Nathans birthday on Monday so this Friday Flashback is for him!  I have so many great pictures of Nate, but I love this one!  It is the day I got home from my mission.

Halloween 2012.

We started out the day with spider web pancakes.  The boys thought I was an amazing mother!

Is 9:30 AM to early to start tick-or-treating?

Truman insisted we stop at Grandpa and Grandma Simons house on the way to preschool.

After school it was off to trick-or-treat dad at work.

They didn't have ANY candy ... so the boys each got a can of root beer.

One of Gregg's coworkers scared Truman - he ran to me crying and buried his face in my skirt ... he left his face-print, can you see it?!

After picking up uncle McKay from school early it was off to Herriman to Hopkinsons.

I am pretty sure the kids only had fries and candy all day!

McKay and I were laughing so hard at Bodie eating his fries in the back seat - he just held up the container and ate straight from there!

I couple of nights ago McKay had to dress up as a zombie for school and this is what he looked like.

The Hopkinson kids didn't know we were coming so when Addie the gypsy, Quinn the mermaid, and Enoch the army man got off the bus they were SO happy to see their cousins - so cute.

The day just kept getting better and better.  Not long after we got home from the bus stop Dallin {the other army man} showed up on his motorcycle.  The kids were elated.

This girl is quiet, and content following everyone in her family around.

Tiff and Aaron host a neighborhood Halloween dinner before trick-or-treating.

They served taco soup with all the fixings, white chocolate popcorn {that was amazing}, and homemade donuts.

Then it was off to the good stuff, trick-or-treating.

Tiffany told the older kids they could go around the cul-da-sac with the little kids all by themselves and they were pretty excited about the freedom.

Bodie was just excited about the candy.  He got the sucker at the first house and ate it the entire rest of the way!

Bodie carried his basket around the block like this ... he is going to have a sore arm tomorrow!

Tiff is a die hard.  After the cul-da-sac I was done, but she insisted we all walk around the block!

Mackenzie was pretty excited when she realized all she had to do was smile and hold out her basket for candy!

What a great holiday!  It was so much fun this year with the ages of the kids.  Bodie was almost more excited about the entire day then Truman.

She is so good to him!
