First Snow.

We had our first real big snow storm of the year last Friday night and Truman could not be happier.
All morning he wanted to go play in the snow.  I kept trying to convince him to wait until after breakfast so I could find the snow gear - my sister reminded me the kids are kids and that I should let him try it out without snow clothes {she was right, why was I trying to be so controlling - he would see quick enough that he really did want snow clothes on} - Truman was after all trying to convince me he was tough enough without snow clothes.
So out he went, in his PJ's - lesson learned - it was cold!
Bodie was perfectly happy to watch from inside where it was warm!

Our first snow.
It was like he was examining it trying to remember what snow was like.

 My little snow kid.
Bast aunt and uncle of the day for going out with him to play and make a sledding hill.

Cousins and Snow.

Our cousins spent the night last night and it snowed, could life get any better if you were four?!

The Move. Part II.

My family was so, so sweet to come help us move for the weekend.
Because we sold all our furniture from our other house and everything we could store was already here at the new house in our storage room, we didn't have that much to move.

Mostly we needed help finishing last minute things - and cleaning!  I can not believe how much cleaning I have done, my finger tips are raw.
Bodie and Jean cleaning the master shower!
My friend Tami had about an hour to come and help so she came and cleaned this shower {after Bodie and Jean!} - it was so nice of her and such a big help!  Thanks Tami.

My mom cleaning out drawers.
I don't usually clean with clorox whips but I have gone through 9 bottles of them getting this new house ready to live in.
Truman was in heaven to see his toys again.  We had packed most of them away, he and Enoch stayed busy playing.
{sorry they are blurry, I was running around the house taking quick iphone pictures to capture the memories}
The girls in the fort.
They were actually a huge help cleaning all the baseboards.
Addie in the basketball court picking up the trash from the lights being installed.

We haven't figured out the exact details on how we are going to finish the court.  About two months ago we decided to just leave it like this for now and focus on getting the rest of the house done - then we will do our research and figure out exactly how we want to finish it.

Dallin has been a huge help at the house, he has come up from BYU a few days to help work on it.
This weekend he and Becca worked on installing door hardware.
7 kids at my bar, I love it.
Dinner.  We ordered in pizza and the kids were happy.

House Update.

This week ALOT changed on the house.
Here are some pictures from my iphone from the last week or so.
Master bathroom.
Master shower {with two shower heads!}  Where the blue tiles are recessed back is a shelf for shampoo, etc.
Our plumber filled up our bathtub and let it sit for two days to make sure the tub was set and that everything was working properly - I love to take bathes, especially when I am pregnant so I can not wait to use this.
This is standing by the tub looking back at the master bathroom.
My vanity is on the left, Gregg's is on the right and you are looking straight back into the closet {which has not been installed yet}.
This was me Friday afternoon at about 2.
The pouty face is exaggerated in this picture, but I really was crying and in a lot of pain.  24 weeks pregnant and the baby has been on my sciatic nerve on the right side so bad that I finally could not move any more.  Gregg called my mom's chiropractor and got me in ASAP to have him work on my nerve.  Thanks to my sister-in-law Becca who went with me and helped me walk in because I could not even walk.  By the end of the night I was moving boxes again - which I probably should not have been doing, but the work needed to be done.  Thanks for the picture Gregg to remind us all how miserable I was.
Master bedroom.
Bodie playing basketball in the downstairs family room - the little door leads to their little fort.
There is no rhyme or reason to the order of these pictures - just all pictures from about the last week of work on the house that I wanted to document.  I think most of the pictures were taken per request from my brother McKay on his mission.
Wow, one kind of clean room in our house.  The pantry.  It's still missing a set of white upper cabinets along the back wall and some dark open shelves along the left side.
This is standing in the back corner of the kitchen by the pantry door and refrigerator looking into the dining room and great room.
I am pretty excited about this paper towel dispenser that I designed and my cabinet guy made.  He wasn't super happy about making it because he is not into 'gadgets' but I told him I hate having clutter on my counter tops {except when I am moving, ha, ha} and with a young family I am always grabbing for paper towels so I wanted to design a place for them in my kitchen.  Directly behind where I am standing is our microwave - perfection!
Mud room, powder bathroom and laundry room are back there.
Mud room / landing pad - the door leads to the garage.  To the left is a sliding door to the laundry room.
 The office in blue!
I love how it turned out and despite a lot people questioning my color choice everyone else loves it too!

This is standing just outside the office looking back toward the great room and kitchen.
 Great room.
I have been up on those ladders cleaning windows.
Piano room - view when you walk into the front door.
This was taken standing in the back corner of the great room looking toward the kitchen and dining room.
Stairs going up to kids bedrooms and guest master.
The railing is still missing the dark decorative wood on top.
Gregg and Brad hanging a door in the kids bathroom.
 Future "girls" room.
I have been cleaning this house basically everyday for the last 10+ days trying to get it ready for us to move into.  What a lot of work!

Certificate of Occupancy.

We got our certificate of occupancy today!!!

First things first.
HUGE kudos to Gregg for being the general contractor and passing our final inspection on the first try!  Amazing.  He did such an impeccable job managing subcontracts {and me} and building us a beautiful house - he deserves to feel proud.

It was one stressful day with alot of stressful days leading up to it!
It actually is a tender mercy/miracle that we got a CO today - we kind of were not ready at all.

It snowed today so four of our subcontractors that were going to do some easy, but very important work on the house {like installing the carpet on the stairs} didn't come at all today.  Since last Friday Gregg has been telling me to cancel the inspection today because we just were not ready.  When I stopped by the city last week I picked up a two page paper of some of the items they would be checking at our final inspection.  Part of our stress was just not knowing exactly what they were looking for.  I was telling the city inspector last week how I really just wanted permission to move boxes into the house and that we could live with family if we needed to until the house was done {we needed to be out of our rental for the upcoming holidays}.  She said most people don't pass on their first try but that at least we would have a list of what needed to be done - so - my train of thought was if they came today and generated a list of what needed to be done then we could get stuff done by Friday and have a reinspect on Friday and hopefully move in over the weekend.

Our inspector showed up around 2 - I was told it would be around 4 so I was shocked when Gregg came upstairs into the kids bedrooms were I was cleaning to tell me the inspector was here.  I immediately panicked.  Not that two more hours would have done me much good, the house was a mess.  I walked down the stairs and as soon as I saw the inspector I started to cry.  I big, huge, ugly, pregnancy, tired, cry.  There was no stopping it, I think it even took Gregg by surprise.  I immediately started to apologize and tell him we were not ready to which he replied "I can see that".  I heard Gregg mutter under his breath, "she's pregnant".

Once I could talk I explained that we had several sub's not show up today because of the weather and that really all I wanted was a list of items I needed to get done so that by Friday I could try again.

We walked through the house for about two hours with the inspector - when we were done I asked what the damage was.  He told me he was going to give us a CO but there were a few items that he wanted completed - for safety reasons - before we moved in.  I assured him we were not moving in until the weekend anyway.

He defiantly had mercy on me us!!!
This might be one occasion when my pregnant emotions worked in our favor!

Convenient.

What am I going to do when I don't live 50 steps from my parents house anymore?
I would dare say that my mom and I meet up at least once a night to exchange stuff, in our pj's of course.

Hansel and Gretel.

Today I took Truman on a date to BYU to see the Salzburg Marionette Theatre's "Hansel and Gretel"
It was amazing!  Truman is completely intrigued by puppet shows now.

House update.

Carpet is being installed, this means we are getting really close :)
