going "green".

As most of you know I have a degree in Interior Design {with minors in Art and Architecture}.  I have owned my own Interior Design business {White Pine Design, Inc.} for 5 years now {wow, five years I can't believe it}.  I have always enjoyed Interior Design.

I was laying in bed last night thinking about ways I could more easily share what I love.  I am not really interested in staring an Interior Design blog {to many of those out here} - but I would like to somehow share with you {my faithful audience} a few of my favorite ID tips and tricks and what is "hot" and what is "not"!  I hope you can find some easy and inexpensive {or FREE} things you can do in your own home to help it have a designer feel.

My first post... going "green".  Did you know GREEN is one of the new 'it' colors.  Crazy.

okay -
I am not sure any of you are going to run out and paint your living room GREEN {like pictured above}.  I don't blame you!  I am not sure I would either!  But, there is something you can do to incorporate green into any room in your house {maybe start with you front room}.

Here is the perfect example.  Start by adding a GREEN plant to a room.  I have always used plants in my designing.  Recently I have been trying to keep a few live plants alive!

Don't you love these chairs, I do!

Here is a new addition to my bedroom.  I new live green plant.  Wish me luck!

I hope you learned something new from this post - and I hope you try to incorporate green into your home.  I was thinking it would be fun to feature you.  Take a picture of how you have incorporated green into your home and email me at camillesimons(at)gmail(.)com

Custom 10 foot bench I had made {again, love it}.

Bunk Room

Bunk Room beds

Bunk Room {four built in bunk beds}

Wine counter {cool copper accents!}

Anyway- there are some pictures of what I have been working on.  I am excited to have it photographed when I am done.  I have the big pieces in, now I am working on the smaller details.

book club.

Today we met for book club.  We had a yummy breakfast and discussed "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown.  I really enjoyed our discussion on the book {I must admit that while I was reading the book I kept picturing Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon}.  There is a lot of symbolism in this book and the girls all had very interesting comments on the book. Thanks Tara [M] for the great book, great food and great discussion!

I am going to give this book four stars out of five
{the four stars are for the symbolism not the actual story line}.

Next month I am hosting and I chose "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis.

yoga.

Gregg {taking the picture}, McKay, Lauren and Nate all went to a night time yoga class with me.  It was really good- and comical.  The instructor was always 'fixing' Nate's poses.  At one point she said "sir, you look like you are in a lot of pain" - it was so hard not to let out a little laugh!  Lauren fell asleep during one of the last poses and Nate had to nudge her to wake up and move on to the next pose.  When we did our final 10 minute meditation the instructor said "this is about mediation, not sleeping" and when ever McKay came out of a pose he would let out a long moan.  Thanks guys for supporting me {and humoring me} and coming to a yoga class!

Why can't boys be pregnant.

Nate, you are one good looking pregnant guy.

Look how happy Truman's face is in this picture!
{after yoga we made pizzas and hung out}

birdie sling.

I can't get enough of these birdie sling bags - I made these two yesterday for some family members.

PS- I put Truman down for an afternoon nap at my friends house but after an hour of him talking {to himself} I went up to check on him and this is what I found {pictured above}.  He had wiggled out of his blanket {we still swaddle him} and SAT UP all by himself.  He was just sitting there talking away.  Silly kid.

Yoga.

It is a new year and time to try new things. I went to my first yoga class with one of my girlfriends and my mom.  I loved it.

Grandpa Quinn babysat Truman for me.  When we got home this is how I found Truman; happily asleep in the love sac sucking his thumb with my dad sitting next to him working on his computer.  Thanks dad.

2010.

Happy New Year!
We are exicted for 2010 - Gregg and I sat down and wrote some goals for the new year.  We try to only make realistic goals that we know we can/will accomplish.  Some of my personal {but not to personal} goals are:

- do the Woman's Triathlon in May {again}
- get caught up on the family scrapbooks
- learn how to use my camera, external flash and Photoshop
- do a family hike once a month {in the summer}

party over!

I also want to be a better blogger {although I am not sure exactly what/how I want to do that/it ...}  I enjoy blogging and I usually enjoy checking in on other peoples blogs.  I sometime struggle {wonder} what the purpose of a blog is.  I feel like there needs to be a purpose or audience {of relevance} in order to justify my time blogging.  Does anyone else ever feel that way?  I never know who I am writing too.  Who is my audience?  Does anyone else ever wonder who their audience is?

PS - are people going to say "two thousand and ten" or "twenty ten"
