derby.

Saturday night we went to the Scott + Kristis for 'man burgers' and then walked down to the demolition derby. Truman did great with the ear phones on.

We all decided the derby went a little long. Besides all the qualifying rounds for the finals there were THREE accidents that required people being taken away in ambulances.

cascade springs.

for the 24th of July we went to Cascade Springs with the Fifes to hike around with the kids.

I found this photo of me in 1989 at Cascade Springs. Who new that 20 years later I would be visiting again with my husband and son.

family reunion.

We spent the weekend in Idaho camping at a Quinn Family Reunion (my dad's side of the family). All of my dad's siblings were there except his brother Allen.

My aunt Beckie had decked out her trailer in a Disneyland theme (I want to do this someday to an old trailer but make it modern/contemporary).

me and my grandpa Quinn who turned 80 earlier this month.

more cousins.

My younger brother Anthony and his cute wife Sharon are going to have a baby in January! We are so excited. Truman will be getting 3 new cousins in a month - we will be all tied up with the same number of cousins on the Simons and Quinn side of the family.

I have been interested in all these old photos of my mom's that I have been finding. I am scanning them in so I have a copy of them. I think I am going to post an 'old' flashback photo every Friday. Enjoy!

weekend update.

I am not sure how to post about the weekend adventures - here is my attempt to make it flow.

On Thursday my sister Tiffany and her family arrived from Flagstaff, Arizona. Her four kids were all very excited to meet their new cousin Truman.

Jean is three weeks older then Truman.

Thursday there was lots of hanging out and crafting going on. My grandpa and grandma Arave came down from Idaho Falls to see the great grandkids.

Aaron and Nathan worked on the infamous 'motorcycle' that Dallin left behind when he went on his mission (I don't think they ever got it running). My dad rounded up anyone he could (including Addie) to help him paint boards for the new windows.

On Friday morning we went to the Oqurrh Mountain Temple open house and then out to hamburgers at Chadders.

On the 4th of July we went to the Park City parade. After the parade we walked down Park Ave checking out all the festivities - when we couldn't walk anymore we called grandpa to come and get us! We all piled in the suburban for a ride home (12 of us). Gregg was invited to play golf on a new course in town so he ditched out halfway through the parade. He said the course was imposable hard but he had a good time with his friends and brother-in-law.

Addie made everyone some red, white and blue jell-o.

Truman stayed entertained by looking at balloons we tied to his hands.

Quinn loved jumping and doing tricks on the tramp.

Nate weeded the sandbox so he could play in it (23 years old...)

In the late afternoon on the 4th Nate mowed the field behind my parents house so we could play a game of kick ball while we waited for it to get dark.

Nathan, McKay and Aaron did a little fireworks show for us while we waited for the Park City fireworks.

Sunday was the best. We all met at 9 am in Park City at my parents ward so Tiffany and Aaron could bless baby Jean. It was a very nice blessing. At 11 we met at our ward in Midway to bless Truman. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland was visiting our ward and stood in the circle while Truman was blessed. Gregg did a great job (a little nervous with a general authority standing with you!) There were 1368 people in our sacrament meeting...

After the baby blessings we all got together for lunch. It was so much fun to have so many friend and family come. Thank you!

Quinn loved holding her new cousin!

This picture says it all - we had a huge weekend. Thank you to all the family and friends that came to play with us and support us!

The highlight was having Elder Holland at church and in Truman's baby blessing. Later in the meeting Elder Holland shared his testimony with us - he spoke very powerfully of three things that were on his mind - the importance of the sacrament (after it had just been passed to 1368 people), the importance of our families, and being patriotic and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy and the land we live in. He said any land were there is a child of God is a sacred land.
